Tonight at 8pm in the Subotnick Center on the 10th Floor of 250 Joralemon Street, the 90 minutes film “At the Death House Door” will be shown. The film is a look at the death penalty in the State of Texas seen through the eyes of Pastor Carroll Pickett, who served for 15 years as the death house chaplain to the infamous "Walls" prison unit in Huntsville. During his career, Pastor Pickett presided over 95 executions, including the world’s first lethal injection. After each execution, Pickett recorded an audiotape account of his trip to the death chamber.
The film will be followed by a half hour discussion period led by Professor Ursula Bentele. All are welcome. Here is the trailer for the film.
